Fresh up in Lop Buri, Thailand

(by Toy)
The weather was good in November, so I decided to make a trip to Lop Buri to see the famous sunflower field and Pa Sak Cholasit Dam. This time I traveled by train.

Leaving Bangkok in the morning, enjoyed the view along the way with breeze on my face I arrived sunflower field 3 hours later. The panoramic view of the very large sunflower field was so stunning. The bed of yellow flowers is as far as your eyes can see. It’s everywhere.

The panoramic sunflower field has become Lop Buri’s major tourist attraction especially during November to January when they are in full bloom.

At the spot where I got off the train for photo shooting, I had a chance to try some local products such as sunflower seed and sunflower tea. It was good taste.

My next stop was Pa Sak Cholasit Dam. This biggest reservoir in Central Thailand was constructed in 1989. It is 4,860 meters long with a capacity of 785 million cubic meters. The named “Pa Sak Cholasit” was given by our beloved King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Travel by train to Pa Sak Cholasit Dam offers a unique opportunity to travel across the reservoir. The railway was constructed along the dams ridge which leads to Pa Sak Basin Museum and a scenic lookout point above the dam. I personally recommend taking the trip to Lop Buri by train during November to January to see a breathtaking and refreshing view of the dam and sunflower field.

Lop Buri is located approximately 154 kilometers north of Bangkok. It was once named the Kingdoms second capital in 1664.
Lop Buri is famous for its historical attractions. Another special land mark of Lop Buri is monkeys. The city is known as the land of monkeys. A big feast for the monkeys on the last Sunday of November is held annually and become one of the most talked about tourist events in Thailand.
